Clay Risher

Clay Risher is Director – Business Development with TrueNorth Capital Partners LLC and is engaged in the firm’s global business development efforts and investment banking activities. Clay’s primary role is originating new business for TrueNorth’s Merger & Acquisition, Capital Raising and Valuation service offerings. Clay brings a deep understanding born of years of experience developing and managing transaction advisory services for the private equity, commercial banking, financial services, technology, energy, telecommunications, manufacturing, distribution, professional services, healthcare, commercial real estate and real estate investment trust (REIT) industries.

Prior to joining TrueNorth, Clay held various domestic and global executive business development, sales and marketing positions in both public and private large- and mid-cap companies. During his career, Clay has originated and executed hundreds of millions of dollars in sales transactions as well as driving the acquisition of net new logos and corporate development opportunities within many of the organizations Clay has served.

Clay has also spent time as an entrepreneur, growing various early stage ventures from start-up to profitable multimillion-dollar entities.

Clay is an award-winning author and regular contributor to REIT Magazine (REIT.com), a publication of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT). Clay’s bimonthly column is titled “Capital Markets”, which features interviews with global investment banking, private equity, real estate and capital markets leaders as well as presidential economic advisors and bestselling authors and lecturers. Clay is a member of the New England and CT Chapters of the Association for Corporate Growth, a longstanding member of CT Turnaround Management Association, the CFO Council, the Hedge Fund Association, and the CT Technology Council. Clay is also a member of Boston University Entrepreneur’s Alumni Group.

Clay graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in literature and economics and has attended post-graduate courses in finance and investing at Fairfield University. When not working or writing, Clay enjoys spending time with his wife Rebecca, playing golf, fly-fishing, biking, swimming and running.
